Outlook - Unable To Send Emails on iPhone & iPad

Problem

This article explains how to fix an issue where an iPhone/iPad can't send emails from a Microsoft email account in the built-in app and keeps prompting for a password.

Solution

It’s recommended that you use the Outlook Mobile app on your phone or tablet.

Make sure the iPhone/iPad is updated by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Check the Outbox for unsent email

  1. In Mail, go to your list of mailboxes.

  2. Tap Outbox. If you don’t see an Outbox, then your email was sent.

  3. Tap an email in the Outbox. Make sure that the recipient’s email address is correct.

  4. Tap Send.

Check your email address and password

If Mail asks you to enter a password for your email account, make sure that your password is correct. To verify your email address and password, sign in to your company account on a computer.

Remove your email account and set it up again

  1. Go to the Settings app

  2. Tap Apps, then tap Mail.

  3. Tap Mail Accounts, tap the email account you want to remove.

  4. Tap Sign Out or Delete Account.

This action doesn’t cancel the email account; it just removes it from your device.

  1. Add your account again.
