Outlook - Hyperlink issue

Problem

Users are unable to open or use hyperlinks in Microsoft Outlook. This issue affects links in email messages, preventing users from opening websites or other destinations when they click them.

Solution

Outlook Classic

  1. Open the affected email and confirm it is not being displayed in Plain Text format.

  2. Check for an InfoBar or warning message in the email that indicates links have been disabled, and enable links if prompted.

  3. Close Outlook.

  4. Go to computer Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

  5. Locate Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise and click on the 3 dots.

  6. Select Modify, then run Quick Repair.

  7. If the issue continues, run Online Repair.

  8. Reopen Outlook and test the hyperlink again.

New Outlook

  1. Open Outlook.

  2. Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email.

  3. Review the junk email protection settings and ensure links are not being blocked from non-safe senders if that behavior is not desired.

  4. Close Outlook.

  5. Go to computer Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

  6. Locate Outlook in the list and click on the 3 dots

  7. Select Advanced options, then click Repair.

  8. If the issue continues, click Reset.

  9. Reopen Outlook and test the hyperlink again.

If links still do not work

  1. Go to computer Settings > Apps > Default apps.

  2. Ensure the default browser is correctly set.

  3. Confirm HTTP and HTTPS links are associated with the correct browser.
