Outlook - Cannot start Microsoft Outlook (Invalid XML)

Problem

This article provides a resolution for the error message "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook Window. Invalid XML, the view cannot be loaded."

Solution

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type the following in the Run dialog box.

    Outlook /resetnavpane

  1. Press Enter or click OK.

Doing this clears and regenerates the Folder Pane for the current profile.

  1. Outlook will restart, and the error message should no longer appear.

If the issue persists after performing these steps, you may need to create a new Outlook profile or repair your Office installation.
