Computer - Check Firewall and Security on Windows

This article provides information how to check if firewall and security is already set up on a user's workstation for Windows.

Instructions

 

  1. Check Windows Firewall

    1. Press Windows Key + R to open run dialog.

    2. Type control and press Enter to open the Control Panel.

    3. Click on System and Security.

    4. Click on Windows Defender Firewall.

Here, you can see if the firewall is turned on or off. You can also check the settings for private and public networks.

  1. Check Windows Security Settings

    1. Click on the Start Menu and select Settings.

    2. Go to Update & Security.

    3. Click on Windows Security in the left sidebar.

    4. Click on Open Windows Security. You can check the status of various security features, including Virus & Threat Protection, Account Protection, Firewall & Network Protection, etc.

  2. Check for Antivirus Software

    1. In the Windows Security window, check the Virus & Threat Protection section to see if Windows Defender or any third-party antivirus software is active.
