Computer - Disable Windows Search Index

Users may encounter performance issues caused by the Windows Search Indexer running in the background. Disabling the Windows Search service can help improve overall system performance.

Instructions

 

  1. Open the Start menu.

  2. Type Services in the search bar and press Enter.

  3. Scroll down and locate Windows Search.

  4. Right-click on Windows Search and select Properties.

  5. In the Startup type dropdown menu, select Disabled.

  6. Click OK to save changes.

  7. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
