Computer - Check Firewall and Security on macOS

Problem

This article provides information how to check if firewall and security is already set up on a user's workstation for MacOS.

Solution

  1. Check Firewall Settings

    1. Click on the Apple Menu in the top-left corner and select System Preferences.

    2. Click on Security & Privacy.

    3. Go to the Firewall tab. You may need to click the padlock icon in the bottom-left corner and enter your administrator password to make changes.

You can see if the firewall is turned on and configure its settings.

  1. Check Security & Privacy Settings

    1. Still in the Security & Privacy section, check the General, FileVault, and Privacy tabs for other security settings.

    2. Ensure that FileVault is turned on for disk encryption and that privacy settings are configured to your liking.

  2. Check for Antivirus Software

    1. If you have third-party antivirus software installed, you can usually find it in the Applications folder. Check its status to see if it is active and up to date.
