Allworx - Initiating A Three-Way Conference Call

Allworx - Initiating A Three-Way Conference Call

Instructions for placing a standard three‑party (3‑way) conference call using an Allworx IP phone—such as models 9202E, 9204, 9212, or similar.

Instructions

  1. Connect with the first person.

    • Establish your initial call as usual.

  2. Press the  Hold button.

    • This places the first call on hold.

  3. Select an available line appearance and call the second person.

    • Use another line (Call Appearance or Line button) to dial the second party.

  4. **Press the ** Conference (CONF) button.

    • This initiates the conference process.

  5. Reconnect the first party.

    • Press the flashing button corresponding to the first call that was on hold.

  6. All three parties are now connected.

    • The Conference button will glow solid red (or green, depending on your model), indicating an active three‑way call.

Party disconnections: Any participant—including you—may hang up to leave the conference. The remaining two parties will stay connected.

Private sidebar (split):

  • While in a conference, press the CONF button again.

  • Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight the party you wish to speak with privately, then press Hold.

  • The selected party will be placed on hold (their line flashes).

  • To restore the full conference, press CONF again and select the flashing line.

Soft‑key versions: Some models display "CONF" as a soft‑key rather than a dedicated physical key—the steps remain equivalent.

Supported models: This feature is supported on popular Allworx desk phone models (9202E, 9204/G, 9212/9212L), provided the system software is 7.x or higher.

Allworx phones implement three‑way calling using standard SIP-based call merging logic. The endpoint handles call mixing directly; no external conferencing bridge is required.
