AMS - Unable to retrieve report data

Problem

This document provides a solution for users experiencing issues when generating reports in AMS, where the report retrieval process stalls with a looping progress bar and no commands execute successfully. This issue is often caused by AMS backend services becoming unresponsive or stuck due to system resource contention, service crashes, or communication interruptions between AMS components.

Solution

  1. Log in to the AMS web server with appropriate administrative rights.

  2. Open the Services Manager.

  3. Locate and restart the following services by right-clicking and select Restart (order is not critical):

Wait for the service to stop and then start successfully before moving to the next.

  • AMS Job Engine Service

  • AMS Agent Service

  • AMS AsyncMonitorService

  • AMS NS Depot

  1. After restarting these services, inform the user to attempt report generation again.

Restarting these services does not require users to log out of the AMS web portal.

If the problem persists after restarting services, consider a full server reboot during a maintenance window.

Always verify that AMS software and related components are up to date according to the vendor’s latest release notes.

Confirm that the server running AMS has adequate system resources (CPU, memory, disk space) and no underlying issues affecting performance.

Check for any pending Windows updates or AMS patches that may address service stability or reporting functionality.

Ensure the network connection between client machines and the AMS server is stable and without latency issues.

Review AMS and database server event logs for errors or warnings that might indicate root causes.
