In the age of digital kingdoms, the great land of Azure was safeguarded by the Virtual Desktop Hosts. But a new prophecy foretells of chosen warriors — Users — who must now be summoned to this realm to wield productivity and uphold the balance.

You, brave IT Admin, are the Keeper of Access. It is your quest to grant passage to these users by binding them to the AVD Host Pool using the sacred artifacts of Microsoft Entra and the Host Pool Scrolls.

🗺️ PART I: PREPARE THE WAY

Before summoning your warriors, the environment must be sacred and ready:

  1. 🏗️ Resource Group Constructed: tru-multi-avd-west-rg.

  2. 🧾 Host Pool Formed: tru-multi-avd-host-pool.

  3. 🧙‍♂️ Azure AD Groups: Multi.AVD.Users.SG and sg-avdusers

  4. 🔮 User Identity Known: Gather the Entra ID or email of the user.

⚔️ PART II: THE SUMMONING RITUAL

  1. 🔓 Travel to the Entra Admin Center
    ➜ https://entra.microsoft.com

  2. 🧝 Locate User(s)

  3. 🧭 Add user(s) to the following security groups:
    Groups → Multi.AVD.Users.SG and sg-avdusers

These are the sacred circles where heroes are granted entry.

  • Multi.AVD.Users.SG – This group grants access to the desktops via Windows App.

  • sg-avdusers – This group allows the users the ability to sign into the desktops.

(These groups will be consolidated once the environment restructure is complete)

💡 PROPHET’S WISDOM (TIPS FROM THE SAGES)

  • 🛡️ Grant Access Wisely: Make sure there are enough desktops to handle the number of users (8 users per desktop).

  • 🕐 It may take a few moments for the changes to echo across the cloud.

  • 🧭 User must log in via Windows App to begin their journey.
