Tips and Recommendations

🖥️ Preferred Browser

When you login to a virtual desktop, all Microsoft products will recognize your account.  This includes Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, OneDrive and Microsoft Edge.  For this reason, Microsoft Edge should be the preferred browser to store credentials.

Why is Edge recommended? Microsoft Edge stores your passwords, favorites and browser history. Should IT need to recreate your virtual profile, all your browser data will recreate on its own.

Does this mean I should not use Google Chrome?

No, you can use Chrome, however, since Chrome is not part of the Microsoft products, you will need to manually sign in to a Google account to save and or recover passwords, favorites and browser history.

🧠 General Use

It is recommended that you sign out from the virtual environment at the end of your business day. Failure to do so may result in loss of data should the virtual machine reboot due to a system failure or during scheduled maintenance.

How do I sign out properly?

  • Use Start > Sign out. (Closing the window only disconnects your session.)

Is there a maintenance schedule?

Yes, every Saturday night from 11pm to 12am.  This is when system updates are applied, and virtual machines will reboot.

🧩 User Login Problems

If you encounter problems while login in, sign out of the Windows App, sign back in and try again.
