RingCentral – Adjusting Audio Settings for Phone Calls
This article provides instructions for configuring and troubleshooting microphone, speaker, and headset settings in the RingCentral desktop or web application.
Instructions
Click Settings from the left navigation bar.
Click Audio.
Under Audio settings configure the following:
Input – Microphone settings
Output – Speaker settings
Call Quality
Headset
Advanced – Apply the same settings to phone and video calls
If your selected microphone and speaker use different sources (e.g., Bluetooth and internal), you may experience reduced sound quality.
Microphone Settings
Under Input, click the dropdown next to Microphone and select your connected device.
Click Test Microphone to check the volume.
Toggle Automatically adjust my mic level to let RingCentral match your voice level to other callers.
If your voice cuts out or becomes too soft, try turning this off.
Toggle Remove my background noise to reduce sounds like keyboard clicks or barking dogs.
Speaker Settings
Under Output, click the dropdown next to Speaker source to choose your audio device.
Click Test Speaker to check playback volume.
Adjust the Speaker volume slider as needed.
To configure ringtones and notifications:
Click the dropdown next to Ringtone and notification source.
Use the Ringtone and notification volume slider to control call and app alert volumes.
Call Quality
Under Call Quality, click Test to simulate a phone call.
RingCentral will log connection data to help identify and troubleshoot audio issues.
Headset Controls
After setting up your headset, toggle Use headset control buttons to answer, end, and mute phone calls.
If multiple headsets are connected, the last one used becomes the active device.
