Windows - Boot Fails after Bitlocker Recovery
Problem
Devices encrypted with BitLocker may fail to boot properly after prompting for a recovery key. In cases where Windows attempts and fails to perform Startup Repair, restoring the system to a previous restore point has proven to be an effective resolution.
Solution
On the Startup Repair failure screen, select Advanced options.
Navigate to:
Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System RestoreChoose a restore point dated before the issue occurred.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restoration.
After the system restarts, confirm that Windows boots successfully.
If System Restore is unavailable, consider alternative recovery methods such as using Command Prompt (bootrec commands) or selecting Reset this PC from recovery options.
Potential causes are:
Corruption in system files or boot configuration data (BCD)
Incomplete or interrupted Windows Update processes
Disk or partition inconsistencies triggered by BitLocker recovery
