OneNote - Error Code 0Xe000005E

Problem

This guide will help resolve the error "0xE000005E" that occurs when syncing a notebook in OneNote.

Solution

  1. Right-click on the notebook's name and select Notebook Sync Status.

  2. Click the small arrow next to the notebook icon to the left of the one with the error.

  3. Identify the section causing the issue. Its name will appear above the error message box.

  4. Close the Shared Notebook Synchronization dialog box by selecting Close.

  5. Create a new section in the same notebook as the one with the error.

  6. Copy or move all the pages from the problematic section to the new section.

  7. Delete the problematic section.

  8. Re-sync your notebook by pressing Shift+F9.

Make sure your version of OneNote and Microsoft Office is up-to-date.
